Question: Why is LC2i Always On

Here's my problem:
1. My LC2i is always on (even when the car is off).
2. Using a multimeter, I've found that the rear left speaker wires that I tapped still provide some "signal".
3. I have no sound coming from my rear left speaker.

Backstory:
I have a 2016 GTI S and recently installed and wired an lc2i, amp and subwoofer. Following the diagram DV52 posted, I tapped into the rear left and right speaker wires from behind the head unit in the glove compartment using some blue posi-tap connectors. I ran the speaker inputs down the passenger side of my car and into the trunk and fed it into the lc2i.

It was performing well up until yesterday when I tried to start my car in the morning and found that the battery had died. I looked around and found that even when my car was off, the lc2i was on and thus my amp was also. I broke out the multimeter and found that my rear left speaker wire inputs (+, -) to the lc2i were still providing some "signal", keeping the lc2i turned on. Not only that, but after a bit of troubleshooting, I found that when I adjusted the balance/fader to the rear left speaker, there is no sound at all.

My question:
Has anyone ever come across any similar issues or could provide any pointers on how I can resolve this?

I would really appreciate any help regarding the matter. Thank you for reading!

Hello,

I have an LC2i in my Mk6. I had read that the "auto-on" feature had its quirks. So I simply moved the GTO jumper to "bypass" and then connected the "Remote In" terminal to a switched power source. Doing this means the LC2i and amp are on any time the ignition is on. That's a minor drawback in the unusual event that I'm not listening to the stereo. On the positive side, I can listen to the stereo without the key and with the sub OFF to avoid a drained battery. It's worked well so far.

A pic for giggles:

Good Luck,
