Please help me and everyone else out and participate in the poll.
Let us know your current mileage and if you've experienced any problems with your engine.
Thanks.
I posted in the MKV forum for the most views.

there's a diy on here somewhere showing how you can check the wear for yourself...probably a good thing to do unless you actually trust that the dealership is checking for you

. the tsb describes how to check as well, but dealerships won't do anything until you experience issues and unfortunately by then it may be too late...it's a realtively easy check and could be done at least every oil change or two http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Thanks for your help with this.
Let's keep it going.
I need proof this is a problem when I approach the dealer about it.

take a copy of the tsb with you or the ref number if somebody can post it up, or just say you took the car to an independent repair shop familiar with newer dubs for a check up and they suggested the dealer look into the cam wear issue

Yeah, thanks for the advice MP413Racer. I'll do that once I find the TSB.
Basically I've always been big on preventative maintenance for peace of mind. This issue is different because there's not much you can do but wait. I'm not so sure it's a good idea to replace the follower only.
I really hope VW can find a fix for this. This is major IMO. We're not talking about a coilpack here. But, $$$$$$$$$$$ in engine damage if that follower grenades.
I really want to keep my GTI. It's by far the best car I've owned. But, I don't like having a time-bomb of an engine either.

mine went at about 38k miles. I had bad fuel cuts after I had my car chipped. Took it to the dealer and they said that it was the fuel pressure sensor. Got that replaced and it didnt help. The car kept getting worse and worse to the point where everytime I would accelerate I would get a massive fuel cut. After about a month the dealership finally replaced everything (cams and follower) under warantee

at 47k now and havent had a problem since
